The Shooting Society goes live
It had been a fabulous month of shooting, more shooting and planning shooting...
and a remarkable start to my new venture. So many 'positives' not least of which, the privilege of working with some incredible new clients (as well as reacquainting with previous clients in my new guise).
Each day something new and inspiring would happen and, even though I was behind schedule in some areas, the business itself was taking flight at great speed. The website was posing a bit of a hurdle. I seemed to have a block when it came to refining the copy and getting all the pages up, so I made an executive decision to put it up in its fledgling state!
I am extremely excited about my new clients! New converts to shooting... They are coming thick and fast and, on the corporate side, include members clubs, private banks, accounting and law firms. Shooting is definitely 'the new black' and The Shooting Society provides exactly what they want – fun, well structured events, incredible value for money... and discretion.
My passion is to introduce new people to shooting and we are well on our way to doing exactly that. An event this week had only two people (including me) that had shot before. How amazing. I held this particular event at Holland and Hollands’ Shooting Ground. I have to say that they have been completely faultless in helping organize events since I started The Shooting Society, facilitating fabulous, good value, bespoke packages, and helping me with the inevitable administrative side of things. However, what has become obvious is that I need to grow the team. I need another boy or girl Friday who could be flexible in their duties and provide the essential back up I crave. Organizing the events and dealing with the clients is my strength. Administration is most definitely NOT.
The newly formed BASC London Social Committee, of which I am now Chair, is also taking a considerable amount of time, as we are continually planning a diary of fun, varied events for the 6,000 BASC members in London. We kicked off with a brilliant afternoon’s shooting at Holland and Holland, suitable for all abilities, informal and fun. The next one is planned for the 13th July, and this time, with a BBQ to finish.
I held the last Home House Shoot on St Georges Day, at Holland and Holland's stunning grounds in Northwood. It was just brilliant to see so many people new to the sport there, colourful characters... convention game-fully catapulted out the window. There were some interesting outfits, most notably the Union Jack waistcoat and bright red trainers, and many familiar faces. The weather was incredible and, apart from a few stranded abroad due to the inconsiderate volcano, it was a sell-out. Andrea King was sorely missed due to work commitments, but several companies had invited clients and friends along to enjoy the day. A good excuse to do some fun corporate entertaining for some of our guests such as Pol Roger (the shooting man's champagne of choice), Law Step, and KPMG. The tuition and guidance from the instructors was ,once more, PERFECT for the novice ...and experienced shots alike. James Clark from Style Bible was on hand to write a review about The Shooting Society, and found out that he may have a natural talent for shooting as well!
